Treetop lines in the dry forest

Ziplining

Ziplining near Playa Flamingo

Guanacaste's zip lines run through tropical dry forest, not rainforest. That means open hills, big trees and, on some courses, views all the way out to the Pacific.

The parks are inland, a short drive from Flamingo, Potrero and Brasilito. It's an easy half day, and you don't need any experience.

Elevated courses

Built higher up, with longer lines and bigger layouts. On a clear day you can see the hills roll down to the Pacific coastline.

Forest courses

Lower and more enclosed, weaving tree to tree. They're greenest in green season, and you'll often hear or spot howler monkeys and birds along the way.

We'll match you to a park based on your group, where you're staying and how adventurous everyone is feeling.

What to expect

How the tour usually goes

  • Safety briefing

  • Getting there

Parks are 25 to 45 minutes inland from Flamingo. No car? We can set up a ride.

Good to know

Before you go

Ziplining doesn't depend on the ocean, so it's a good plan for days when the sea is rough.

Local tip: lots of parks also run ATV rides, so you can do both in one morning. See our ATV tours.

  • Best season

It works all year. Dry season, December to April, is clear with dry trails. Green season, May to November, is lush and cooler, with the odd shower. Tours run rain or shine, though big storms can cause a short delay.

  • What to wear

Closed-toe shoes are required. Wear comfortable clothes, leave loose items behind and bring sunscreen.

  • Age and weight limits

Every park has its own limits. Tell us who's coming and we'll check before you book.

  • Time of day

Morning tours are cooler, especially in dry season.

Questions

Ziplining FAQ

Do I need any experience?

No. Guides clip you in at every platform and help control your speed. If you can hold on and listen, you're good.

Is it OK for kids?

Most parks welcome kids, with minimum ages and weights that vary by park. Tell us their ages and we'll pick a park that fits.

Does it run when it rains?

Yes, in most cases. Light rain doesn't stop tours. Heavy storms can cause a short delay.

How far is it from Playa Flamingo?

Most parks are 25 to 45 minutes inland from Flamingo, Potrero and Brasilito.

What should I wear?

Closed-toe shoes are required. Comfortable clothes you can move in, no loose items, and sunscreen. The park provides the harness and helmet.

Can we combine it with other activities?

Often, yes. Many parks also run ATV rides, hanging bridges or animal sanctuaries, so you can fill a half or full day in one place. Tell us what you're into.

Will we see wildlife?

Often. Howler monkeys are the most common, and you'll usually hear them before you see them. Birds are around too, especially on forest courses.
